In the social media world, a “Follower” is someone who has decided that they want to keep up with one’s life. Followers observe and like someone else’s life and sometimes even copy that lifestyle. And when followers are not satisfied or entertained with one’s life, then they have the choice to “unfollow” them.
The reason some people keep following other people is that they feel impacted by the person and can learn from the person in one way or another. And sometimes, people follow other people because they are connected or make them laugh.
Do you really follow Jesus? Or do you unfollow him every time you are in “a good place”?
1 Corinthians 1:12 ‘Some of you are saying, “I am a follower of Paul.” Others are saying, “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Peter,” or “I follow only Christ.”’ (NLT)
Well, the confusion between following God or people started a long time ago. In this passage, Christians in the church of Corinth were divided, and they turned the gospel into apostles’ fan-club. And Paul was writing to remind the church that the gospel is not about the preacher, but the gospel is about the good news about Jesus Christ.
Every day you feed on the information from so many people on social media or other platforms, and you learn from their lives and wonder why you think more like the world?
How much time do you take to support the work of God, to praise the name of Jesus and to learn from God’s word?
I am guilty of following the wrong things in my life, but I always remember that the world is showing me what they want me to see, it’s not the complete truth.
On the other hand, Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Following Jesus is the only thing that brings contentment.
2020 is a particular year to rethink about who really influences your life and your decisions.
Don’t waste your God-given time copying the world because Jesus has overcome the world and He is everything you need. TRUST ME!
