Everlasting Joy

Everlasting Joy

The word ‘Joy’ is defined as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. According to the dictionary, finding happiness also gives contentment.

Think about it, do you believe that the purpose of your life is living to acquire worldly things, only to leave all of it behind?

Don’t get me wrong, I love studying, working, travelling and trying new things, but that’s not enough to give me everlasting joy.

The society tells us it is all about me myself and I; and acquiring a maximum amount of pleasure in this life. But Jesus says we are here to serve others first.

Matthew 22:37-40 says
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ [a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ [b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Last week during the international four days marches in Nijmegen, my friend Mahlet and I went to the streets to share the word of God and pray with strangers. Two people rejected us, and two people took their time to listen and pray with us. We were sharing the word of God because Jesus has put his love in our hearts to love his children first, and we know that only God can give everlasting joy.

“There is a great deal of joy when doing the will of God. And telling people about Christ is the main will of God” by Mahlet.

Everything in this world shall pass; that’s why the world can not fulfill us because only God has the power to bring contentment in our lives.
For me, I experience exceeding joy when I tell people about the good news of Jesus Christ. I spend time with God before I go pray with strangers because he has the plan, and I want to do things his way.

Jeremiah 1:5 says “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” This verse reminds me that I am not only here to be the “title” my studies give me, but there is more to my life and yours.

Loving other people could look different for you in your life, ask God what he has for you and do it by faith; he is with you always.

Welcome Jesus Christ every day in your life and your life will never be the same again.
